Sean in new movie "Witches of Oz"

Sean will appear along with Billy Boyd and Christopher Lloyd in the upcoming "The Witches of Oz."

From Monsters and Critics:
"The Witches of Oz is a fantasy/comedy that follows the exploits of Dorothy Gale, now a successful children's book author, as she moves from Kansas to New York City.

Dorothy quickly realizes that the dreams on which she based her books were actually childhood memories, and that the wonders of Oz are very, very real. When the Wicked Witch of the West appears in Times Square, Dorothy must find inner courage to stop her."

Sean portrays Frack, half of the sprite comedy duo of Frick & Frack. Frick is played by Jason Mewes.

Sean records another Twilight Zone Radio Drama

Last week we recorded a brand new TZ story called “Beewinjapeedee” written by JoBe Cerny, who often directs the TZ episodes. It stars Sean Astin as a documentary filmmaker who travels to the Everglades in search of his brother’s killer and encounters a legendary Indian Princess and shape-shifter with a ravenous appetite. Incredible actress Elizabeth Ledo plays the Indian Princess while Christopher Sullivan, Tyron Patton, Oksana Fedunyszyn and Roger Mueller round out the cast. This episode airs next month so be sure not to miss it.

Report on Sean at University of Illinois

http://the217.com/articles/view/sean_astin_speaks_at_the_union

Some highlights:
Astin joked quite a bit about his experience in making The Goonies, mentioning that Karri Green was “so not” his first make-out, and adamantly stressing that he never has, nor ever will do, the “truffle shuffle.”

*is much relieved*

Astin emphasized that he learned a great deal from playing the role of Sam, and that The Lord of the Rings taught him a great deal about unity and fellowship.

"Soak it up,” he said. “And give much of yourself to it. That’s what I learned about fellowship in Lord of the Rings. Also, that there is an awesome power in unity; and . . . tattoos on the left side of your ankle hurt.”

"Voicing Dissent" presents a unique and original series of interviews with American artists (including the Guerilla Girls, Tony Shalhoub, Shepard Fairey, Sean Astin, and many others) who have voiced their opposition to the war in Iraq. Following Pierre Bourdieu's example, these discussions are approached sociologically and provide a thorough analysis of the relationships between arts and politics as well as the limits and conditions of political speech and action. These painters and graphic artists, musicians, actors, playwrights, theatre directors and filmmakers reveal their perceptions of politics, war, security and terrorism issues, the Middle East, their experiences with activism, as well as their definition of the artist's role and their practice of citizenship...

Sean at CMU; and next lecture

First, the awwwww moment: A freshman shows Sean a picture from the set of Rudy. He is holding 1-yr old baby her! Her father had a small role in the film. Here he is signing her father's copy of the script.

Article, Q&A, and video.

Sean's next lecture will be at Johns Hopkins University, where father John Astin teaches! The lecture is scheduled for 8pm, Tuesday, November 17, at the Shriver Hall Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public, and is followed by a reception. (While checking out the link, note the other speakers in the series. Sean is in some pretty heady company!)
